I wrote this track for the grand finales tie breaker of the osu! French Cup 2024 (OFT2024).
This was actually the first time I was working at a “high BPM”. Before that, the highest BPM song I had was FM 172, at 172 BPM (obviously). And it was already pretty high for me. Usually, I work anywhere between 70 and 130 BPM. This time, it was between 180 and 220. Trying to force myself not to hear everything at 90 or 110 BPM was the hardest part. My brain kept creating melodies in half time which would probably not be fun or challenging to play in a rhythm game like osu!.
I kept re-starting new projects in a loop for a couple months, never really satisfied with anything.
Note that this isn’t even all of the projects, because I did not start to put all the tie breakers in a single folder until the fourth or fifth try 😅
Long story short, I ended up writing something that I liked, with the help of constantly re-listening to fast paced reference tracks. Here are some of them:
- Silynroom x Shun - Rainshower (Very obvious one)
- Gardens - Trinity Burst
- Rejection - Zero Gravity
And a few others. I don’t remember all of them.
